Maskne Sucks!

Have you experienced breakouts or other skin issues since COVID-19? Maskne, short for mask acne, and other skin complications have become a new normal in people’s everyday lives due to wearing masks often and for long periods of times. Do not fret, I have compiled my four favorite skin care products to help combat this new hard to get rid of acne. In this post you will see some great skin care items that are for a variety of skin types as well as other helpful tips to fight off your maskne!

Super Food Cleanser $36

My first product I want to recommend has, no joke, changed my skin forever. This Superfood Cleanser is packed with amazing ingredients that any skin type will love, including kale, spinach, green tea, and Vitamins C, E, and K. This is the first and only face wash that I have used and saw results instantly. This face wash cleanses your skin with out feeling like your skin is super tight or dry, so perfect for this Fall and Winter weather coming. This item, while it is not the cheapest, will leave you feeling clean and green as it is made with sustainable packaging, coming in an awesome glass bottle that you can reuse for whatever you’d like!

Tea Tree Relief Serum $17

Korean skin care is bomb and I had to include this wonderful made by iUnik, a Korean skin care brand that uses natural ingredients to help better your skin. Two key ingredients in this serum that help with breakouts are tea tree leaf water extract and niacinamide. While tea tree oil can cause irriation and is not great for your face, tea tree leaf water extract has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it great for reducing acne.  Another reason I am in love with this product is because while it helps clear up my acne it also soothes and hydrates my face.

Paul’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant $30

The third skin care must-have I recommend is a chemical exfoliant (Stop using abrasive exfoliants on your skin @St. Ives Apricot Scrub users, they are too harsh and cause wrinkles!) that is formulated with BHA to help reduce build up and dead skin cells while also hydrating your skin.  I especially recommend this for those that have blackheads; after I use this exfoliant my pores look noticeably smaller and help clear out the nastiness that hides in our pores. Using this type of exfoliant will help clear out your pores and help you to fight off your maskne before new breakouts even develop.

Niacinamide Treatment Serum $6

My final skin care item is a serum packed with niacinamide. This ingredient is amazing for getting rid of acne while also hydrating and brightening the skin. This product is also budget friendly, being just under six dollars.

I know not all of these recommendations are budget friendly so if you’re looking for cheaper options go ahead and try the sample sizes that way you can see how much it helps your skin and add the regular size to your Christmas list.

Travel size Cleanser $10

Travel size Exfoliant $10

I hope this list of products will help you in your fight against Maskney and please try some of these out and let me know how they work for you. Feel free to leave your suggestions for fighting of Maskne in the comments! I hope you are all staying well and safe. ❤

If you would like to find out other great options for your specific skin type I highly recommend watching Hyram on Youtube. While he is not a trained dermatologist, he his highly knowledgeable in the skin care realm and shares affordable and eco-friendly options. Check out his latest video here:

    1. Hey girly, I know not all of these products are budget friendly but if you have $10 to treat yourself, definitely try the Superfood Cleanser travel size! It really is amazing and that way you can see how great it works and then go back and purchase the big bottle later. ❤️

  2. Great post!! Maskne has been killing me lately… but you already know I have to try the Superfood Cleanser. I also already have that serum from The Ordinary and I LOVE it! Glad you suggested that one. I highly recommend a lot of the other skincare products from The Ordinary.
