I also read this book, and I appreciated Poehler’s acknowledgment and sarcasm when it comes to expectations for mothers and double standards that are often faced by women with children. I like that Poehler remains objective and approaches the situation with a “you do you” attitude. It does not make sense for women to judge other women for their paths in life, as women are all faced with the same double-bind. Our own individual choices do not make us better, or worse, than other women. Some women do not have the same options as others, and visa versa. It is important to acknowledge that.
