Quick Hit: Why is Everyone Attacking Ariana Grande?

Like many of you, I watched the Grammys on Sunday night and wow was it amazing! While I thought the award show was fantastic, my guilty pleasure is watching the Fashion Police red carpet special on E! I usually agree with most of the cast, but I just couldn’t believe what they were saying about Ariana Grande.

The Fashion Police cast didn’t hold back when they shamed her outfit for being “too sweet,” “too young,” and “not sexy enough” for the Grammys. The twitter world also seemed to agree, leaving Ariana in tears at the show. Okay, I think that they’re forgetting that she’s 20 years old and her big break was on a kids show.

The star was probably confused as to what direction she was supposed to go in (considering most stars her age dress like they’re 30) and her stylist obviously didn’t know either.

With everyone obsessing over Miley, I can see why she would be afraid to go too sexy. My advice for Ariana? Explore the fashion choices that make you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful. Oh and maybe nix the panty hoes and pastel, satin shoes next time….that’s just my opinion 😀

Any thoughts on this? Am I the only one that liked that she didn’t go super sexy?

  1. I totally agree with you on her outfit choice! I feel like young stars today, especially women, are asked to go way beyond their years in wardrobe choices. It’s crazy!! It is probably so stressful and confusing for them to try and fit in and have to impress society with just one outfit. I can’t imagine the stress. I enjoy watching Fashion Police sometimes, but I also think that maybe it is a bit too focused on clothes and is really just hurting celebrity women in the end. Why should they have to stress so much about something so small?!

    1. Thanks for the comment, I definitely feel ya! I would never know how to represent myself since I’m in the young adult age group as well. Its like a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing. We should totally be encouraging young women to dress however they feel comfortable, whether that means sexy or not. And you are so right about Fashion Police but its like a car crash that I can’t look away from!! Maybe someone can convince Joan to turn it down a few notches and promote some positivity!

      1. Haha! Totally agree that Fashion Police is like a car crash you just have to watch. I am kinda wondering where they got that random cast of people from and how they have such “knowledge” about fashion.

    2. OKAY I LOVE ARIANA GRANDE! This girl can sing so well, to the point that I don’t even really care what she wears. Sorry, I just had to get that out. I totally agree with your post, Ariana doesn’t have to wear super sexy outfits, her dress was cute! She is very tall so maybe a shorter dress could have showed off her body more, but if she isn’t comfortable with that than why appease fashion police. Miss Grande needs to just keep on doing her thing and forget the haters!

      1. PREACH! That is totally where I was trying to go with this haha I could not agree more. Also, just gonna throw this out there…if she was in tears on the red carpet and then still got up in front of all the millions (or billions?) of people judging her to present that award, she’s stronger than I could ever be. If you can put on a brave face for the world, like you said, why appease fashion police??

  2. I love Ariana Grande! And the fact that she doesn’t feel the need to “sexy” it up just makes me love her more! The fact that she keeps it more conservative makes me extremely happy because she is still on a television show on Nickelodeon and young girls are looking up to her for style. I used to be obsessed with Fashion Police as well, but then I realized that they make it too much about the individual and less about the clothes themselves. There is a huge difference between saying “That dress is hideous” and “That person is hideous” and they are too often leaning towards the latter.
