This has caused a ripple effect, and other parties have received backlash from the state’s decision. International: Chechnya, the small republic in the Russian Federation, has been accused by human rights organizations and leaders around the world of engaging in purges around people who identify as LGBTQ. Reports claim incidents as early as 2017 but the Kremlin denies any wrongdoing on the Chechen government’s part.
