During my time in quarantine I’ve spent a lot of time on social media. I’ve seen a lot of posts saying while you’re in quarantine you have to do this or you have to do that, you have to come out of quarantine with a new skill, or you have to have your life together by the time this is all over. At first seeing these posts made me feel like I was lazy. And then I realized- I don’t have to do shit. It’s perfectly fine for me to do my homework, workout and then lay bed for the other 10 hours of the day. It’s fine for me to take this time for myself and my mental health. Im all about trying new things especially now since there’s much more free time, I just don’t like the idea of telling someone they have to do something, when they don’t. So, here’s a short list of things you DON’T have to do while you’re in quarantine.
I feel like this one is very necessary right now,
You do NOT have to follow Tik Tok trends
Please trust me on this one. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT CUT YOUR BANGS. I know it’s the new trend but there’s a better chance of you hating yourself than you actually liking it. You don’t have to buy the newest shower mirror or computer stand your favorite tik toker posted from her “favorite amazon finds.” Sis, you don’t need it. You don’t have to gag from drinking that apple cider vinegar every morning to lose weight. I promise there’s other options.

You don’t have to workout every single day
Even though I do highly recommend getting up and doing some activity everyday, even if it’s walking around the house to get some steps, you don’t have to start some new rigorous workout plan. If you weren’t an exercise fanatic before, you don’t necessarily have to become one now just because you have extra time in your day.

You don’t need to cook nice meals
If you’re anything like me, cooking anything from scratch is not an option. Making French toast is the fanciest thing I’ll make. Don’t feel bad if you’re not cooking the most elaborate meals everyday. Just today I made the little dinosaur nuggets for dinner and I was perfectly satisfied. Pre cooked meals and Uber Eats have been my best friend.
You don’t need to stay busy
The other day my Mom told me that l should stay busy during this quarantine. That I should wake up early, do my daily routine and then find random things to do to keep me busy the rest of the day. That sounded like a good idea, but then I thought “why?” My problem before quaraninte was that I kept myself so busy that I forgot to take care of myself. So, I decided while I’m in quarantine that’s what Im going to do. I’m going to take this time while I’m not busy and do things for me. Staying busy might work for some people, but for me I need to do the opposite.

You don’t need to learn something new
I do think it would be cool and beneficial to learn something new, but like the whole point of this post, you don’t have to. It’s ok if you haven’t taken that free online course from Harvard, or learned a whole new language, or figured out whether you wanted to be a doctor or lawyer yet. Take this time to do what you want to do.
Now, for a list of things that you DO need to do while you’re in quarantine.
Stay inside.

omg yes thank you!!! I have been seeing so many posts saying that we need to be productive and so so much and it makes me sooo angry but little do they know simply just laying down and relaxing can be “working on yourself”.

I love your tik tok trends section, seriously there is a dark side to that app (and it’s not the bangs!) that encourages ED behavior and I can only imagine how rough it’s getting now! I had to delete it from my phone, we just didn’t work out, Tik Tok and I.
