So I’m sure you’re wondering why does it matter that it’s Audrey Hepburn’s birthday today. Well, I guess it really doesn’t, but I thought what better way to end my semester with ShoutOut! than writing about this lovely lady and female icon.

I’m not sure if Mrs. Hepburn identified herself as a feminist, but I believe she empowered women and was/still is a role model for us today. A few quotes of hers show her encouragement for women to recognize that their inner beauty is much more important and valuable than their outer beauty.

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

As women, many of us get consumed with the way we look; we pick apart our hair, bodies, outfits, facial appearance, and the list goes on. But we have to always remember that our appearance does not define who we are; it is our soul. The one thing that we should always be aware of, nourish and take care of is that, for accepting who we are on the inside will fulfill us, to the fullest.

Before I take off though, I would like to thank all of ShoutOut!’s readers and followers. Writing for this blog has fulfilled me in a way I never though it would and I am so thankful for this opportunity. Because of ShoutOut!, I am more confident in who I am and above all, proud to call myself a feminist.

I’ll leave you with one more quote and farewell my friends! xoxo
