Shhhhh!!!… W.O.M.E.N,
Women. What does the word mean? What value does it hold? When you look at yourself what do you see? In today’s society the definition of what it means to be a woman has changed in so many ways. Going back in history we were seen not as an individual but as an association, meaning we were attached to the man’s name.
You know it’s so crazy because reflecting on my high school years I too have endured this sense of attachment. Picture this, you’re walking past the rotunda minding your business heading to class and out of nowhere you hear “ Hey little Kenrick.” Now what you’re hearing is a voice from a person who’s trying to be funny as I have a name and “Little Kenrick ” is not it. So because I was dating him now I have no value. Is what you’re saying , I am not my own person but a man’s possession.
See that’s what I’m saying y’all. We fought tooth and nail to be seen and to be heard, to not be compared to men but to be seen as equals.
Equals in the workforce, equal when it comes to pay wages, and in sports, and hey some may even say equal in the bed ( if you know what I mean….. Un-Un lets get back on track). Now where was I, ok lets start here. It’s the fact that it’s 2022 and what it means to be a woman and showing your femininity has been determined by social media and men, again and as women we are allowing it in some ways.
Let’s tread lightly and start with all the way’s social media makes a huge impact as it “sets” the definition of what it means to really be a woman. There are so many ways in how social media can influence and set the tone of what a woman should look like, be like, and sound like. Particularly I wanna focus in on a post that was made on a popular and well known news source Instagram page, TheShadeRoom.
On July 17th, a post was made in regards to feet, see it was a very controversial, unpopular opinion of “Why do women always have to have white painted toenails?” So I went looking in the comment section to see answers and guess who was roaring loud in the comments MEN!!!! Saying “If her toes aint white I don’t want her” or “She aint a real woman if I don’t see white polish on her feet” Well Sir let me ask you: What do you know what a woman is? Or better yet what a “real” woman looks like? And why does the color of her toes determine whether or not she’s a real woman? You see it’s little things like trying to stereotype, group, and even redefine women.

Let’s move out of social media and into the unfitted circle of men in power, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to politics 101 how “big” old white “scary” men who “rules” society try to enforce their morals and beliefs on women and how we should act.
Now I’m going to try to refrain myself and behave because if only you knew how these people make me wanna start an uproar but anywho lets re-center and start with your former president, Trump now this man really took his power and ran with it in a very disrespectful and childish way. As he was a sexist man who belittled, took away and threatened Women’s rights and the whole ideological foundation of framework that women laid down to the path of a righteous, equal fit on woman’s freedom and rights. The pathway that allowed women to establish who we are, who we are to become, the power in which we can evoke in the workplace and how we should be treated.
This man controlled and influenced congress in the creation of abortion laws in which we have today or shall I say the lack of rights when it comes to our own bodies.
He did this by using derogatory language on the molding of women and how we should be viewed when it comes to our color, gender identity, the work force and etc. ”Grab em by the pussy. You can do anything” is what this man stated, do you hear this?
Not only does this undermine our worth and allow congress ( old white MEN) to make laws about our bodies and force us to sit still, be silent, look pretty and make babies with no matter in the say, but he’s also calling on all sexual predators and women abusers.
Now say what happens when or if these men become detained by the law what can they say? Other than “Oh, the president said to do it. So it was ok, we got women on our hooks, they wanted it, and he said I could do anything”. NOOOOO it’s time to wake up and stand up, to take back our power and reclaim our voice, let it be heard: your definition, your identity, your perspective, what makes you feel good. Let’s stick it to the men who controls society. What makes you a woman! Take off the chains in which society places on you, open the cage, use your wings and FLY!!
