There is this great article going around the interwebs that talks about “17 Lies We Need to Stop Teaching Girls About Sex” and it hits the nail right on the head. Women and girls are told over and over again the “proper” ways for them to express their sexuality. From what women are supposed to look like (shaved down there) to what women are supposed to enjoy (no casual sex for the ladies) society attempts to control everything in women’s sexual lives. Here’s a news flash though…women are able to figure out what they want sexually all on their own. Limiting women’s sexual lives limits their connection with their own body and takes away an essential aspect of learning about themselves. Women need to have full control of their sexual lives free from the worry of negative society assumptions regardless of where they fall on the sexual spectrum.
