I’m thrilled to announce, in my last post for ShoutOut, a project that I am launching with my good friend Kelsey. We are going to be co-editing an anthology of short essays from young feminists about how they got their feminist wings.
For myself, it was Jennifer Baumgardner and for Kelsey it was Jessica Valenti. We plan on launching the website at feministwings.org this summer as we begin the work compiling the book. I’m so excited to have been a part of ShoutOut JMU because it really helped encourage me to take on this project. Kelsey and I are very excited because there isn’t much literature like this at all. We want to speak directly to young women. The book will cover a wide range of subjects with a few writers for each. I just wrote an article about Jessica Valenti! I think this is an awesome opportunity to really empower young women while still fulfilling your feminist passions. That moment when you do get your “wings” is an amazing one. I know when I did, I no longer felt hindered to express my views and felt more sure in who I was. I will definitely be keeping a look out for the launch and keep doing great things girl!
