A recent discovery found that a mental health crisis is among the top five emergency calls to police in Harrisonburg. In response, the Harrisonburg Police Department is hoping to improve its response to emergency calls that involve a mental health crisis. Some officers have stated that they do not feel equipped enough to handle mental health situations on their own. As a result, HPD plans to add two new jobs to combat this issue this month: a licensed clinician and a qualified mental health professional. Additionally, by adding these two new roles to the department, it should improve the overall response to crisis calls in the field and provide more expertise to the staff. Captain Jason Kidd of HPD stated, “We really feel that pairing the officers with someone who is an expert in the field of psychology or social work will provide that officer with the resources he or she’s going to need to make the best decisions in the field and really best assess the most favorable outcome for that individual in crisis.”

The ongoing public fallout from Brianna Chickenfry and Zach Bryan’s breakup has taken a sharp turn, with new allegations coming to light. Brianna, feeling blindsided by Zach’s Instagram post announcing their split, addressed the situation on the BFFs podcast with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards. During the discussion, she labeled Zach a narcissist, manipulative, controlling, an alcoholic, and abusive, claiming he cheated throughout their relationship. She also suggested physical abuse, referencing videos she possesses but does not intend to release, citing personal embarrassment and concern for her future children. Additionally, Bri revealed that Zach’s team approached her with a $12 million NDA offer, which she declined. She further speculated that his previous exes had signed similar agreements to remain silent about his alleged abusive behavior. Meanwhile, Zach has yet to respond publicly, focusing instead on his music career, as he continues to release new work and sell out arenas. The situation remains a contentious topic in the media and among fans and the public

A senior official in the Hamas terrorist organization called for an immediate end to the war with Israel after the election of Donald Trump. These attacks have stemmed from generations of views that Israel is Palestinian land, as well as the wrongful dislocation of the Palestinian people. Hamas does not recognize Israel’s right to exist, due to them believing that it is their land. It is unknown if this is a direct correlation to the election results.  But we do know that when Trump was in office for his first term as the President of the United States he had formed a close relationship with the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. The senior Hamas official had this to say about the election results, “The election of Trump as the 47th president of the USA is a private matter for the Americans”. He then added, “but Palestines look forward to immediate cessation of the aggression against our people… and look for assistance in achieving their legitimate rights of freedom, independence, and the establishment independent self-sovereign state with Jerusalem as a capital.” Trump has come forward and made statements that he does not condone Netanyahu’s wartime leadership and how he has gone about this war and called for a timely end to their attacks.
