Wow. Wow, that is all I can fathom after watching the Presidential Debate. These are our two options America? I must choose the lesser evil, and I still won’t be completely at ease. How can a convicted felon run for President, but if you’re a felon, you can’t vote? 34 felon counts, FYI. I have never really been a fan of Kamala either, but as a woman living in America, Kamala is the best option for our country so that woman can control their bodies and have their rights.
Since the 2024 Presidential Election is just around the corner, I wanted to inform women living in the U.S. of Kamala’s feminist beliefs and policies. Kamala Harris is a strong, black, democratic woman who was also the first Vice President ever to visit an abortion clinic. Harris fully supports abortion rights, and she is actively making reproductive healthcare vital to her presidential campaign. If Donald Trump were to be elected as President, Project 2025 would come into play as soon as he takes his seat back in the White House.
What’s Project 2025? Think of the book/TV series The Handmaid’s Tale. Church and State would coexist with one another (Christian beliefs), meaning our diverse and “free” country would essentially be ruled by the bible. Whatever happened to the 1st Amendment in the Constitution? You know that silly little document that protects religious freedom and keeps the Church and State completely separated? The Establishment Clause in the 1st Amendment states that the government is prevented from establishing one religion to constitute the United States. The Free Exercise Clause also protects U.S. citizens from practicing their religion as they choose. Are we just rewriting the Constitution now? I’m not sure, but that seems pretty unethical in the United States Government. If Project 2025 were to fall into place, The Department of Health and Human Services would “maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family” (BBC, 2024).

We haven’t even gotten to the worst part of Project 2025, so hold your horses. If Project 2025 were to be established, the government would have access to nationally monitor women’s pregnancies and miscarriages. Also, you can say bye to abortion clinics, bye to birth control, bye to the morning-after pill, bye to all your rights as a woman. Is this not the Handmaid’s Tale?
Another key thing to take away from Project 2025 is that the President would get to oversee all executive decisions made for our country—another bye to Checks and Balances. Do you think I wouldn’t mention the wall in this post? You thought wrong. Don’t worry because MORE government funding would go toward building the wall between the border of Mexico and the United States. Project 2025 also “proposes dismantling the Department of Homeland Security and combining it with other immigration enforcement units in other agencies, creating a much larger and more powerful border policing operation” (BBC, 2024).
I know both options aren’t ideal or pleasing for most, but if you are a woman living in the United States, you will vote for the person who will secure your rights and protect them…for the next four years.
