Female President

Why haven’t we had a female president yet?

Have you ever voted in a presidential election?

There have been 46 presidencies, and all of these individuals have been males. After Joe Biden won the United States Presidential election in 2020, Kamala Harris became the first-ever female Vice President of the United States. Vice President Kamala Harris being elected is a massive step because she inspires other women and young girls to follow their dreams. Kamala Harris being elected as the vice president was a huge time in history because it broke the societal norm and created a more equal country. This is a step in the right direction, helping to create a more inclusive and representative government.

How does Kamala Harris’ role as Vice President impact the United States?

Having equal representation in the white house for men and women is very important. Kamala Harris being elected as the Vice President of the United States is a positive first step, and hopefully, women continue to be included and get involved as time goes on. The Vice President provides a lot of inspiration for women because she is a strong leader.

Since the Vice President is very high up in the government, she has a lot of influence and responsibilities. Kamala Harris makes many important decisions, and her opinion is valued within the government. She represents the United States of America and is reshaping the way individuals feel and think about leadership positions.

I think gender roles and stereotypes impact the votes for things like high government officials, especially the President of the United States. Over time, these negative gender stereotypes have impacted women’s ability to hold positions of power. I think this leaves women and young girls feeling discouraged and underrepresented in the government. Everyone deserves to feel empowered and represented in all aspects of one’s life.

Have you ever seen the show scandal? *spoiler about the show in the next two paragraphs*

In the show Scandal, there is a character, Mellie Grant, who becomes the President of the United States. The show shows the behind-the-scenes of the Whitehouse and the campaigns that are run to become a President or Senator. There is so much behind the scenes that goes into getting an individual elected. Before she became the president, she was a United States Senator. It was very inspiring to see a fictional world where a woman becomes the Senator and continues on to President.

Do you know how much effort it takes to become President of the United States?

I love that the writers did this because they challenged the gender stereotype by casting a woman as the President of the United States. I think this storyline can encourage women and young girls to join the presidential election because they see how she did it and succeeded in the show. I think more shows and movies should do this to continue to encourage individuals and show the world that this is a positive reality. In doing so, I hope it will seem more attainable and realistic to achieve in real life.

Kamala Harris being elected as the vice president of the United States is a huge step in the right direction for the country. In the future, I hope more women feel inspired, supported, and encouraged to run for President and higher levels of the government. I believe everyone deserves to be represented and heard in all aspects of life, especially the government. After 46 male presidencies, I am hopeful that we will have a female president soon!

Would you ever run for President?

  1. I loved reading this because you’re so right! With a Woman in office, we would get the chance to have our voices heard more and maybe have a new outlook on certain issues. When I really think about it, it blows my mind we haven’t had a Women as president and it’s sad to say, but I don’t know if we ever will. Thanks for your blog!

  3. I loved this post. Being the first female president was always a dream of mine as a little girl. While I have retired this dream I hope others are still heavily pursuing it! I hope that having a female president is not far on the horizon for us. Branching off of FemmeinAction’s reply, I think pushing for more inclusivity and representation in our government is crucial in order to keep growing as a society.

  4. I really enjoyed this post. Many people don’t realize how much representation matters in all aspects of life. I remember being in first grade, mind you I knew absolutely nothing about politics, during the Obama vs. Romney election, and I was soooo excited about the chance to have a female VP. It was the first time that I had ever heard of a woman being in such a position and it made much more hopeful for my own future. I hope that Kamala Harris stands as the same type of hope for little girls today.
