Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know October was breast cancer awareness month?

With October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) coming to an end, I thought it was very important to share some information about breast cancer and its awareness. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer. The main goal of this month is to educate others and bring awareness to this awful disease. This month emphasizes how important it is to support individuals with breast cancer. It also spreads awareness so individuals can be cautious and proactive when it comes to their own health.

In the US, around 2,100 instances of breast cancer in men and approximately 240,000 cases in women are diagnosed annually. In the US, breast cancer claims the lives of about 42,000 women and 500 men annually. Of all women, black women die from breast cancer at a higher rate than any other. Cancer is when the cells in the body grow out of control. Aside from skin cancer, in the United States, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, even though individuals with breast cancer have lessened over time.

Educating others is a primary goal of breast cancer awareness month. It is important for individuals to have all the information about breast cancer. It is very useful to know the early side effects and how to perform a breast exam, so this disease can be prevented. Regular screenings are important for individuals to get regularly to make sure they are healthy. It is always better to be safe and catch things like cancer as early as possible. Knowledge is power, and knowing this information could save your life or someone else’s.

Do you know how to effectively perform a breast exam?

Do you participate in regular screenings?

Fundraising for breast cancer is another goal for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month is very important to raise a lot of money for this organization. The fundraising helps support cancer research, which is very important to help cure this awful illness. Donating to this cause also expresses support for individuals with breast cancer and their families. It is very important to be there for these individuals because breast cancer is a very awful, unimaginable thing to go through.

During breast cancer awareness month, it is very common to see the pink ribbon around to support the cause. This month is also important to advocate for the cause and push for a cure. Also, to improve access to health care and increase funding for this research. The more money that goes into breast cancer, the more resources victims can grab onto. Fundraising also allows technology to advance at a faster rate, preventing less future cases of breast cancer.

As a society, how else can we help during breast cancer awareness month?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month started in October of 1985. Ever since then, individuals have been advocating and spreading awareness about this awful illness. Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been such a positive thing, helping spread awareness about this disease. Who knows how many people it has saved by getting the word out there advocating for early detection tests, mammograms, and more.

The high school that I went to had an annual pink-out football game to raise awareness. Reaching the younger generations is the most effective way to spread both awareness and education. Personally, I know many people who have fought breast cancer, and I am just so grateful for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to advocate and spread awareness. There are so many ways individuals can make a change and support this cause, whether it’s donating, educating others, posting on social media, and much more.
