As the title states, sexual assault has actually been viewed as normal by young girls! A recent study interviewed 100 young people between the ages of 3 and 7. One of the interview subjects stated “They grab you, touch your butt and try to, like, touch you in the front, and run away, but it’s okay, I mean … I never think it’s a big thing because they do it to everyone.” NO!!! THAT IS SO NOT CORRECT! What is happening to some of these girls that they actually believe sexual violence is normal?!
This is 100% a step in the wrong direction and if girls start to believe this then what hope is there that sexual assault will ever decrease? If girls do not respect themselves enough to view sexual violence as something they will not tolerate than what will make guys respect us enough to not commit these acts? The article goes into several reasons as to why these girls might feel this way, one being “Girls believe the myth that men can’t help it.” Apparently guys just can’t “control” their behavior. If this is the case, I am very scared to see what my relationship will be like with my future husband. Check out the rest of the reasons here!
