The Compromise

This is a video I found on my friend’s facebook page.  This video is of Gianna Jessen who is speaking at Queen’s Hall, Parliament House in Victoria, Australia on her surviving abortion.  Her biological father and mother were 17 years old when they decided to undergo an abortion.

Jessen speaks of her faith in Jesus Christ, who saved her from death, and though she may be crippled, she has a purpose in life.  Her purpose she says is to speak for Christianity, to show that life matters.  Asking where was her choice as a woman in this decision of having an abortion?

Since hearing a survivor’s story, this video made me think a little differently.  But it wasn’t not enough to convert me to become Anti-Choice supporter.

If people want make abortion illegal, fine.  Really, honestly, go for it.  But here is what you have to do for abortion supporters.

Pay up, support, vote, and educate.

Where does that child go after it’s been “saved?”  Most times to an adoption agency, foster home, or an orphanage.  And then what?  What has this child been saved from, exactly?

Conservative, anti-choice persons, if they don’t want abortion, then start paying to better the lives of unwanted children who are not aborted.  Support and vote for laws that will protect women and children.  Ask your representatives of your state to give realistic sexual education that does not solely promote abstinence, and have birth control and condoms readily accessible.

1) Mothers who are pregnant and do not wish to keep their child should be given maternity leave with pay to have the child, instead of having an abortion.

2) A great deal of more state funding towards foster homes and orphanages.

3) Children who remain in foster homes and orphanages will be granted money for college education if are accepted into and choose to attend college.

4) A single person who is either heterosexual or apart of LGBT, along with homosexual couples with appropriate incomes and lifestyles will be able to speedily adopt “unwanted” children after criteria is met.

5) Those who wish to adopt will not have to pay an outrageous amount to adopt.

6) Sexual education will live inside a realistic curriculum that will not support underage sex, but will give the right tools in educating students about sex.  Instead of using the idealistic model of only teaching abstinence.

7) Condoms, birth control, and pregnancy tests are to be more accessible to men and women.

Where is morality when those who so desperately wanted to “save” a child from abortion, abandons the child once her of she is born?  If you want to become active about an issue, you must see it issue all the way through.  And then, both sides could be in agreement.  What does it mean to be a “Pro-Life” supporter?  Do Pro-Life supporters only believe life is at that very moment a baby is first born. Then the “pro” stops?  Or, does Pro-Life mean to see that the life of the child saved is indeed a life worth living for?
