Yesterday, Lupita Nyong’o became the third black woman to be named People’s “Most Beautiful” person of the year–but she’s the first woman of color with dark skin to earn the label. In 2012, People magazine named Beyoncé the most beautiful woman of the year; in 2003, it was Halle Berry who was on the cover of the annual list.
